God and Economic Equality

by Vince

A quote to start off:

“Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. The goal is equality … ” (italics emphasis mine).

Aaron Taylor begins this conversation at Sojo. Paul is speaking to the community of Corinth. I see this verse and think about Christians who are perfectly fine with rampant and unchecked capitalism. Why do we as Christians bow down before Paul and his words in the New Testament but demonize efforts towards this community today? The millionaires who are afraid of losing their money and power call this socialism. I call it community. Be careful of word changing to alter your mindset.
